History

The Lakeshore Glass and Mirror legacy is the product of a multigenerational endeavour which extends back to the mid 1930’s when John Spohn opened a glass business on Richmond Street West in Toronto.

John’s dedication to his craft allowed him to build up a solid reputation for delivering high quality products on projects of any scope and scale. His clientele quickly grew to include names such as The Ontario Stockyards, Numerous Office Buildings, Goodyear, Firestone and Christie Cookies among others.

The business established itself as the premier glass provider in the area and continued its operations until 1974 when John retired and sold the business.

However, in 1975, upon request from former clients, who were unable to find the superior standard of workmanship from other businesses that he had previously provided, John and his Wife, Jeanette approached their son, Alan, with the idea of reopening a small glass service business together to serve select clients.

It was at this time that Lakeshore Glass & Mirror Inc. was born. Alan eventually took over the company from his father and continues to run it to this day. Alan is still asked about John & Jeanette by the many returning customers reminiscing about the “old days”.
